10 Alternative Rock Music Videos You've Never Seen

6. I'm Not Okay (I Promise) - My Chemical Romance

My Chemical Romance was the ultimate emo-pop band kicking against the pr*cks. I'm Not Okay (I Promise) was the anthem for any teenager in the 2000s who felt like an outcast. The video - filmed in the style of a mock teen-comedy - presented the band as a group of outsiders doing their best to negotiate their cruel high school years. It parodied the American Pie movies that were all the fad during this era.

But the original was a far less grand concept. It showed the group playing a number of smaller gigs and venues, just as they were on the cusp of taking off. Footage of the band running around their home haunts of New Jersey revealed a far more personal side to the group.

Sadly, this video now belongs to the realms of allusive internet videos - it turns up every now and then on reddit or YouTube, only to be taken down again. All you can do is hope that the internet gods are with you; one day you might stumble across this mystical snapshot of the group in their early days.
