10 Amazing Artists That Only Have One Album

7. Box Car Racer

As early as the '00s, the pop punk wave of rock and roll was already starting to look a little light weight. Around the time that Blink 182 were putting out Enema of the State, post hardcore bands like At the Drive In were giving them a run for their money with a post hardcore update on rock and roll. And it looks like Tom DeLonge may have been a little bit jealous, seeing how he made an entire offshoot project to experiment with the format.

Just before going into the studio for the self titled Blink album, Tom and Travis Barker got together to make something a bit closer to the bone on this album. While there are a handful of songs that could have made for excellent Blink songs, the subject matter might be a little too dark than what the guys who brought us the Rock Show had in store, especially when they break out the heavier guitars on I Feel So.

Even when they have all the members of Blink on call when Mark Hoppus guests on Elevator, a song that related specifically to the 9/11 attacks was something a lot more adult than their audience of teenagers may have been ready for at the time. While this might have been a palette cleanser at the time, it ended up taking a chunk out of Blink as well, as the rest of the band never got on the same creative page and ended up falling out after their next record. Mixing up the formula is always healthy though, and it's never a bad thing to see the younger stripe of rock grow up.
