10 Amazing Artists That Only Have One Album

8. Blind Faith

Ever since his departure from the Yardbirds, Eric Clapton was always seen as a blues journeyman in rock and roll. While he may have dipped his toes into many different rock outfits, he was always more of a free agent looking to jam with whatever musicians he had at his disposal at the time. With Cream on its way out the door though, Slowhand assembled another supergroup with Blind Faith.

Still keeping drummer Ginger Baker in the mix, Clapton's sound got a much different feel with Steve Winwood behind the microphone, giving a lot more soul to Eric's bluesy licks. Though this outfit is mostly remembered for the classic tune Can't Find My Way Home, they should be known more for the kind of chops they had, able to sink deep into a bluesy groove at one moment and then play beautiful ballads at the same time. Just look at the back half of this record with the song Do What You Like, which stretches out to give Ginger a drum solo that grows more and more chaotic by the second.

Then again, Eric was always going to end up being the leader of a group, and it only took a handful of live shows before he split the band up and began work on what would become Derek and the Dominoes. Layla may have been right around the corner, but this is a unique middle zone for Clapton's level of playing. Not quite the pop star just yet, but no less god-like than he was in the '60s.
