10 Amazing Hard Rock Songs Featuring Killer Guest Stars

1. Promise - Slash

The idea of a supergroup has always been something of a mixed bag. Even though there are people like the Traveling Wilburys that show how well the supergroup can work, there are also people like Damn Yankees that just seem more interested in cashing in that actually writing quality tunes. And while Slash does have one of the better supergroups to his name with Velvet Revolver, his only proper solo album was where the real magic came from.

Featuring an array of different singers from track to track, Promise is the one song that stands out from the pack, bringing in Chris Cornell fresh off of his stint working with Audioslave. After doing a lot of soul searching with the previous Audioslave albums, Chris feels more in his element working alongside Slash's guitars, painting the picture of talking to someone who's down and out and encouraging them to keep going.

The name on the record is Slash though, and the top hatted maestro does have his chance to shine on this song, bringing in a solo that sounds like it could have fit somewhere in between songs like Sweet Child O Mine or You Could Be Mine. In the years since leaving Guns N Roses, Slash had pretty much built up a reputation as one of the biggest go to guys for a rock guitar solo. By the time we got to this record, it was about time that someone returned the favor, marking one of the highlights of both Slash and Cornell's careers.
