10 Amazing Hidden Tracks On Classic Albums
2. The Real Song for the Deaf - Queens of the Stone Age
For as pretentious as that title may seem, Queens of the Stone Age might actually warrant the definition of Songs for the Deaf. Being one of the louder records of the '00s, you can hear them pushing themselves as hard as they can possibly go on most of these songs, as Josh Homme takes us on a trip through the California desert out to Joshua Tree. Though Mosquito Song might be billed as the real hidden track on the album, you have to go back to track zero to hear the real secrets.
Billed as the Real Song For the Deaf, the only way to hear this song on a CD back in the day was to try and rewind the record after the first track, which makes this entire track feel like a little bit of a warmup for what you're about to hear. There's not much to be found on a song like this, with the entire track just being someone saying "what?" before you get a really low rumbling of bass that continues on for a minute before the mock radio stations start coming in to introduce you to the album.
While the radio station might start you off fine, this might be the better way to get properly introduced to the album, almost testing your speakers' low end for you before launching you into the chaos. The deaf might not be able to hear all of the licks on here or anything, but chances are the vibrations at the end of this song might do the job just as well.
