10 Amazing Musicians Everyone Forgets About In Legendary Bands

4. Bonehead - Oasis

For almost every iteration of Oasis' career, Noel Gallagher has always been the man with his hand on the wheel. Calling him the Chief wasn't really a joke half the time, with Noel always writing the songs and even dictating how some of the drum fills should go when tracking songs like Slide Away and Bring it On Down. There was always a piece missing after the Be Here Now era though, and much of that comes from what was happening on the other side of the stage.

Although Bonehead never had his hands in writing too much of the Oasis catalog, the majority of their hits have their power because of his sturdy rhythm guitar playing. After originally being a lead guitar player in the pre-Oasis band The Rain, Bonehead's attention to straight barre chords most of the time made for a huge wall of sound whenever you turned on an Oasis record, while player the more melodic lead work on tracks like Some Might Say.

When the Definitely Maybe sessions were taking place, even producer Owen Morris had mentioned wanting to turn up Bonehead's tracks more often than Noel's because of how solid the playing was. Noel may have been the genius, and Liam certainly brought a majority of the attitude, but Bonehead was the beating heart of Oasis that made the band the sonic superstars of the '90s.
