10 Amazing Noughties Albums No One Ever Talks About
10. The Von Bondies - Pawn Shoppe Heart
The Von Bondies never quite found the level of popularity they deserved. All of their releases were well-received critically and they even had a taste of commercial success with Pawn Shoppe Heart, and its lead single, C'mon C'mon, which received regular airplay and charted around the world. But sadly, their only major label release has not been remembered well. Driven by self-indulgent blues and dirty, jarring riffs, Pawn Shoppe Heart is an underrated masterpiece of the so called garage rock revival. A particular highlight is an electrifying cover of Try a Little Tenderness as a hidden track (seriously, the album is worth it for this alone). The follow-up single to C'mon C'mon, Tell Me What You See, didn't quite have the same success (although it did have a great video), and unfortunately no further songs from Pawn Shoppe Heart were released. After a number of line up changes, The Von Bondies released an EP and one final album before disbanding in 2011. Best Tracks: Been Swank, The Fever, Tell Me What You See
