10 Amazing Pop Songs By Rock Artists

4. She's a Rainbow - The Rolling Stones

Looking back on their career, The Rolling Stones do have a few albums that they tend to regret...it's just that they don't agree on which ones they are. While there are definitely some rough spots in every part of their discography, Ronnie Wood has been outspoken as not being fond of their '80s albums like Dirty Work, which sports some weapons grade level cheese on it. Even though Mick Jagger has called their psychedelic period crap, he might be a bit too hard on himself when you factor in She's a Rainbow.

Granted, you can at least see where he's coming from. With albums like Beggars Banquet and Sticky Fingers being a few years down the road, it feels like night and day listening to a song like this, with Mick playing up the more care free attitude that was happening around the time of the Summer of Love. There's still that bit of magic here though, and none of the actual Stones ended up landing the killing blow.

The real MVP is the orchestral arranging on this song, which is actually courtesy of John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin, who was working behind the scenes as a session man before delving into the world of hard rock. Even so, how the hell did we get one of the greatest pieces of psychedelic pop from two bands that are known to be miles heavier than this? It's not an easy question to answer, but with hooks this good, does it really need to be?
