10 Amazing Rock Albums With Terrible Production

7. Chinese Democracy - Guns N Roses

And here's where people start to question whether this is even considered a good album. With all of the hype surrounding Chinese Democracy when it came out, time has not been kind to the Axl Rose solo album that just so happened to have the Guns N Roses name attached to it. Before you call this thing overhyped to the moon though, there is the makings of a great rock and roll album in here somewhere.

If there's one fault of this Axl Rose solo outing though, it would have to be Axl himself. After bringing in some of the biggest musicians of the time like Buckethead and Bumblefoot behind the guitar work, the entire record feels like a Frankensteins' monster that was pushed out to meet a deadline. And it's not like Axl is one for keeping to deadlines either, especially with this album which was in production hell for over a decade.

In all that time, some of these songs still feel like they're half finished, with multiple vocal takes that sound like they were taped in completely different decades based on Axl's screams. Remember how we had albums like Appetite for Destruction where every single song seemed to flow into each other perfectly? Yeah, after the Illusion records, it seems that Axl decided to make it sound big instead of making it sound good.
