10 Amazing Rock Bands That Went Pop

6. Noel Gallagher

In the late '90s, there was no mistaking where Oasis fit into the rock and roll spectrum. Though the mantle of Britpop loomed over their head for most of their career, this was a throwback to the old school rock that got us into the genre from the likes of the Rolling Stones and the Beatles. If you've seen what Noel's been doing lately though, we're a long ways from Live Forever, aren't we?

Across his solo career, Noel has been on a slow but steady slide towards more accessible material, with Who Built the Moon being the most dance influenced soundscape that he has ever produced. Though you can hear bits and pieces of more interesting rock acts in his delivery, Noel's voice seems to be pandering to the club-centric pop if he is deciding to make stuff like Black Star Dancing and This Is the Place these days.

As much as some of us would love to see the loud guitars of something like Headshrinker come back into focus, he doesn't seem to have that much interest in doing that, considering his mantra of fans not knowing what they want until you give it to them. A fair argument, but would it kill him to kick out the jams at least one more time for us hardcore fans? Since Oasis is in the rearview, let us at least have some nostalgia of the early days.
