10 Amazing Rock Bands That Went Pop
5. Tegan and Sara
An act like Tegan and Sara has always been pop adjacent since the day that they formed. Ever since their first album in the early '00s, their style always fit comfortably in the quirky indie rock side of things rather than the heavier side of someone like Metallica or anything. Once they got a taste of the sweeter side of music though, things started to focus towards the synths right quick.
After the success of albums like So Jealous and the Con, we were given one hell of a curveball once they released Heartthrob, which was one of the most sugary pop albums they would ever make. Though stuff like Everything is Awesome for the LEGO movie ended up going over like gangbusters at the box office, this was almost close to pop perfection with the way it blended every different instrument together.
That proved to be just the start of the madness though, as Love You to Death threw it back to the '80s in full force, with the Quinn Twins making the closest thing to a classic synth pop record that wasn't timestamped before 1987. Though some rock fans are still holding out hope for a return to roots record like Hey I'm Just Like You, the poppier side of music has done nothing but treat these gals well ever since they started.
