10 Amazing Rock Cover Songs You Haven't Heard Before

1. Nonpoint - In The Air Tonight (Phil Collins)

This enduring smash hit from Phil Collins is sometimes regarded as one of the most emotive and powerful songs ever written, which has earned it a formidable legacy.

With such a legacy will always come influence, and the stampede of musicians inspired by this song have all taken a shot at covering it. Despite being covered countless times since its initial release in 1981, there is surely no band who have nailed a cover of 'In The Air Tonight' quite as well as Nonpoint did in 2004.

Since they formed in 1996, Nonpoint have enjoyed a series of hot and cold spells when it comes to exposure to put it mildly. Following a notable introduction to the world of metal, Nonpoint seemed to slide off the radar for a number of years after a series of member and record label changes, before resurrecting themselves in 2014 through their eighth studio album, 'The Return'.

Despite spells of turbulence, the now veteran nu-metal outfit have endured and released some great music. With this Phil Collins' cover, they went for a change of tempo in this encapsulating and conviction driven tune, embracing a slower tone but also rocking up the original in the process.

Bringing something new to both the band's original sound and the song is what makes this such an incredible cover, which truly emphasises the talent Nonpoint possess.
