10 Amazing Rock Songs That Are Ridiculously Short
5. Supersonic - Bad Religion
The back half of the '90s is sort of seen as a dark time for Bad Religion. After being the main heart of the band who helped write some of their greatest riffs, Brett Gurewitz decided to step away from the group to focus on managing Epitaph Records, all while the band that he formed continued on without him. Distance makes the heart grow fonder though, and once Brett came back, he was going to come back with a vengeance.
The minute that Brett entered the fold on The Process of Belief, you could hear the band enjoying playing together again on Supersonic, as Greg Graffin goes for broke on every single line he sings. Now that the band had also become a three guitar attack, this opening track hits you like a smack in the face, trading different licks between each other while still managing to play at breakneck speeds.
We can talk about Brett's return all day, but the true MVP of this entire song is Brooks Wackerman, who made one of the best impressions possible from behind the kit. Never has a drummer embodied the title of a song more, as Brooks flies all over the kit and doesn't rest until those final few seconds of the song, until exploding again on the next track Prove It. If Bad Religion seemed to be getting a little bit winded with age, this was the kind of intense energy that most of us had been waiting on since the days of Suffer.
