10 Amazing Rock Songs With No Lyrics

1. YYZ - Rush

Through songs like The Spirit of Radio, Tom Sawyer, and New World Man, Canadian trio Rush have expanded their reach beyond the Great White North and enjoyed a well-earned induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013.

If there was a Rock and Roll Instrumentals Hall of Fame, then Rush would be a first ballot member. They've done so many of them that there's an entire Wikipedia page dedicated to the subject.

There's La Villa Strangiato, a ten-minute spectacle in 12 parts. There's The Main Monkey Business, Hope, and Malignant Narcissism, which are three separate songs from the album Snakes & Arrows, and not one mega-track. And then, there's YYZ, which is pronounced "why-why-zed" for those wondering.

One of Rush's most popular pieces, it shows every member at their best. Guitarist Alex Lifeson is on fire, drummer Neil Peart brings the noise, and Geddy Lee gets to muck about on the bass in lieu of doing any singing.

No Rush concert was complete without a bit of YYZ, just like no list of great instrumentals would be complete without it.
