10 Amazing Songs That Artists Hate
6. Creep - Radiohead
It's hard to imagine Radiohead almost coming close to one hit wonderdom in the early '90s. As the grunge explosion was still in full swing, these British masterminds first step up to the plate with Creep became a staple on rock radio, matching pretty much every trope that the Seattle sound was known for. While they recovered from their dated sound nicely with Ok Computer and Kid A later on, time has not been kind to their biggest commercial hit.
Shortly after reaching the top of the rock heap, Thom Yorke immediately wanted to distance himself from his signature song. While an album like the Bends was still rooted in the same alt rock tropes of their previous outing, you can hear the more sophisticated aspect of their later years creeping in, like on Just and My Iron Lung. Even when they recorded it, the band weren't necessarily in love with the song, with Jonny Greenwood's attempts to mess up the track resulted in the now iconic guitar jabs before the chorus.
Over time though, fans have even seemed to distance themselves from this song, labelling it as the "entry-level" version of what Radiohead is really capable of. Though Creep is not a bad song on the surface, when you compare it to something like In Rainbows, it's like looking at rock and roll baby pictures.
