10 Amazing Songs That Were Never Performed Live
7. Diluted - Slipknot
There doesn't seem to be too much that's off the table for Slipknot to perform live. Since they've cultivated one of the most ravenous fanbases of all time, the idea of them putting parameters on what they play really seems counterintuitive to the whole masked freak getup. Aside from a few album tracks though, Diluted from the self-titled album is something that Corey Taylor still won't touch.
It's a shame too, considering this is one of the hardest songs for the nu metal period of the band, having a lot more anger and pain laced throughout it than most. There are even some good moments where Sid gets to shine behind the turntables on this one, even interpolating a horror movie sample as a coroner talks about not having time for the living.
There is a bit of a caviat to something like this though. For years, this has gone unperformed because Corey seems to have a personal connection to this song, which made it impossible to perform live in the truest sense. With all of the band in agreement, it's almost as if they don't want to get into that mindset ever again. As much as Slipknot's regular shows can drive people up the wall, you have to be on some next level set of horrifying lyrics when even the guys in this band think that it's a bit over the top.
