10 Amazing Things You Didn't Know About Gerard Way

5. He's Deathly Afraid Of Needles

There are many common phobias in the world. Some of the most common include aerophobia (the fear of flying), claustrophobia (the fear of small spaces), mysophobia (the fear of the germs) and arachnophobia (the fear of spiders). Also up there is trypanophobia, the fear of needles and injections, and that's exactly what Gerard Way suffers from.

It isn't mild, either. Gerard's fear is so intense that he's never been able to get any form of tattoo or body art. For a man so enamoured with painting and drawing (Way once pitched a cartoon to Cartoon Network titled The Breakfast Monkey, but it was ultimately rejected for resembling too closely Aqua Teen Hunger Force) this must surely be difficult. Aside from needles, Way has also gone on record to state that the older he gets the more afraid he's become of teenagers, too. So what about teenagers holding needles?
