5. Beck
Following the release of the Grammy award-winning alternative pop album Colors, Beck’s next album Hyperspace has an expected 2019 release. The album was announced with a new single Saw Lightning, which he worked in collaboration with Pharell.
The track features a country guitar and harmonica, a sound he has explored before but was absent from his last release. No other collaborators are currently known for the new album.
The song followed the release of his contribution to The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part Soundtrack, collaborating with Robyn and The Lonely Island. Though this novelty will likely be absent from Beck's 14th album, it would be crude to ignore the increasing use of electronic textures in Beck's sound.
After a summer touring with Sunflower Bean and Cage the Elephant (the latter of which he released a song with this year), there has been no new news on Hyperspace.
While we believe it would be a missed opportunity to not release Hyperspace in the same year as the 50th anniversary of the Moon landing, Beck 2020 does have a ring to it, to be fair.
