Ah, the mid-80's. Glam and hair metal ruled, Madonna strode upon the top of the world, and guys looked like hot girls. Then a band emerged from Los Angeles that brought an element of actual danger to the mix. Guns 'n' Roses became the Rolling Stones of 80's excess, briunging a trail of fire wherever they went, inciting riots at some shows, and deciding to just be late or not show up at all for others. Maybe middle-age has tamed the fellas enough for them to now come together and make some new, a-little-less-dangerous-but-still-menacing tunes. Singer Axl Rose would be the one to make it difficult, as he still tours under the band's original name, even though he's the only original member. Everyone else however partied so hard they literally had to go to rehab. The rest of the original band did get together with Stone Temple Pilot Scott Weiland for Velvet Revolver though, so we got a taste of how things could still sound with the original Guns. All the same, Axl seems too busy trotting out new guitarists with weird names for original axeman Slash to join back up. Here's to wishing.
