10 Artists That Destroyed Their Own Album

5. Overexposed - Maroon 5

Any self respecting fan of rock and roll has seemed to have washed their hands of Maroon 5 a long time ago. I mean, it's no secret that stuff like Girls Like You and What Lovers Do are nowhere in the same area code as rock anymore, instead given the pop ready polish that no one really asked for. Though there's no real time when Maroon 5 started being boring, the rollout for Overexposed was when fans started to feel that they've had enough.

Granted, it's not like this was all that different of a switch up compared to Hands All Over, as Maroon 5 went in an even more electro pop direction for this outing. In the process though, it seems like Adam Levine just stopped trying to write good songs, with tracks like Payphone and One More Night feeling like they were half finished by the time they were sent kicking and screaming out of the studio.

It doesn't really help Levine's case that he still maintains his status as a rock star these days, proclaiming that if rock is still around, why wasn't he invited to the party?. From one classic rock fan to another, you're nowhere close to rock anymore, Levine. You've traded in your rock card for a pop sound bite the minute that you proclaimed that you could go toe to toe with Mick Jagger.
