10 Artists That Will Not Defend Their Own Albums

5. Trilogy - Green Day

In the wake of American Idiot, Green Day were starting to get more ambitious with every project they put out. Having been crowned kings of the pop punk world for the second time, it was time to double down on what made them kings in the first place, creating another concept record from the ground up in 21st Century Breakdown and turning American Idiot into a Broadway musical as well. They couldn't just go back to a regular album after that, but considering what the trilogy wrought, it might have been better just to get a standard album.

Looking to go above and beyond for the fans, the band announced that the next project would be a trilogy of records titled Uno Dos and Tre, with each record having its own theme. When we actually heard it though, there wasn't nearly enough inspiration to carry over for three projects, with every single album seeming to run out of gas halfway through and struggling to pick itself back up for the rest of their runtime.

Then again, this might have been coming from ugliness behind the scenes, with Billie Joe Armstrong struggling with an addiction to pills and saying that most of these records were pointless to be stretched out after he got sober. We all should be thankful that Billie is on the other side now, because it turns out that being an addict means that you miss the problems that are right in front of your face.
