10 Artists With Incredible Gaps Between Studio Albums

1. Linda Perhacs

Born Linda Arnold, in 1943, in Mill Valley California, Linda Perhacs was working as a dental hygienist in Beverly Hills when she received her 'big break.' One of her clients happened to be Oscar-winning film composer, Leonard Rosenman, whose credits include Star Trek IV, Beneath the Planet of the Apes, Kubrick's Barry Lyndon and the animated Lord of the Rings. Impressed by Linda's demos, Rosenman enabled the aspiring singer to record her first album, 1970s Parallelograms, which he also produced.

A fine collection of psychedelic folk, the album went almost entirely unnoticed upon its initial release by Kapp Records. Dispirited by the lack of success, Linda resumed her career as a hygienist. A growing rise in record-collector's interest in obscure music, together with the advent of the internet, which allowed the easy sharing of information, led to Parallelograms re-discovery. The album was re-released in 1998 by Wild Places Records, with further expanded reissues soon following.

In 2014, 44 years after her debut album, Collins returned to the studio to record The Soul of All Natural Things, which was released via Asthmatic Kitty Records, to positive reviews.
