10 Bad Closing Songs On Great Rock Music Albums

7. Mother’s Lament - Disraeli Gears (Cream)

After a roadie accidentally called the derailleur gears on a racing bicycle "Disraeli Gears", legendary supergroup Cream knew they had the name for their second album.

But only after they'd stopped laughing at the poor fella.

Disraeli Gears released in late 1967 and helped establish the band as a force to be reckoned with. Guitarist Eric Clapton, bassist Jack Bruce, and drummer Ginger Baker were now household names, as songs like Strange Brew and Sunshine of Your Love demonstrated their significant talent.

Unfortunately, many people were left questioning why such a strong psychedelic rock album ended on what sounded like a drunken sing-a-long.

The song Mother's Lament is credited as a traditional piece, but it was actually written in 1944 by Jack Spade. It's a joke song about a poor woman washing her very thin baby in the sink, only to turn around and find that her child has gone down the plughole.

How hilarious...

It's funny in an ironic way, but it brings the album to a crawling halt rather than a letting it end on something strong.

Also, the three members are singing intentionally out of tune, which is just annoying.
