10 Bad Closing Songs On Great Rock Music Albums

6. The Wanderer - Zooropa (U2)

No, not another a cover of that song from the Fallout 4 trailer, but rather an original effort from Ireland's least self-aware men.

In 1994, U2 released the follow-up to their very successful Achtung Baby album from three years before. Zooropa showcased some of the band's most creative work to date and critics absolutely loved it.

Bono even called it the band's Sgt. Pepper... he would later retract that statement, but still!

U2 had something special lined up for the final track; a guest appearance from musical legend Johnny Cash. He was brought in to record the vocals for the song The Wanderer, which turned out to be... a droning, uninspired flop of a closing song.

Right.

Even with The Man in Black on duty, The Wanderer just isn't very exciting. Why isn't it very exciting? Because U2 made it that way!

They wanted to end the album on a "musical joke" and so chose this song to round things out. Newsflash, lads - jokes are supposed to be funny.

To make matters worse, the song also contains a "hidden track", which is just an alarm ringing for 30 seconds.

Why do U2 hate us?
