10 Bad Songs From Great Bands
6. The Ramones - I'm Not Jesus (Halfway To Sanity, 1987)
Penned by short-term drummer Richie Ramone as part out of the band's shockingly bad Halfway To Sanity album, Im Not Jesus shows the ugly side of The Ramones hard-rock influences. Feeling frantic and directionless I'm Not Jesus is soon to spiral of control, jam-packed with some clumsy percussive bursts and one of the weakest choruses to ever to find its way onto a Ramones record.
The track may pack plenty of testosterone but what it severely lacks is a sense of direction and a truly memorable chorus. It's true that part of punk rocks charm is that it possesses an amateur DIY quality, but this track feels as if it could have been thrown together by a bunch of angsty teenagers from the comfort of their parents garage.
