9. D'Arcy Wretsky/Billy Corgan - Smashing Pumpkins
The Smashing Pumpkins have remained one of the more interesting rock outfits to come out of the grunge era. While never really fitting in with the sounds of Seattle, the music of Billy Corgan and co. has managed to hold up over time, with songs like Cherub Rock and Today becoming classics for the alternative rock movement. Then again, that did come at the expense of one of their greatest strengths.
Ever since the beginning, the relationship between D'Arcy Wretzky and Corgan has been shaky at best. Being the perfectionist that he is, Corgan ended up recording the bulk of Siamese Dream by himself, replacing her original performance. No doubt leading to a bit of bruised egos in the group, Wretzky kept things going with the Pumpkins up until the release of Machina, where she decided to pursue an acting career.
Going on a tirade shortly afterward, Corgan blamed her departure on being strung out on drugs and turning into a mean-spirited band member. Even though there have been attempts to smooth over these things in recent years, the video for Try Try Try didn't help matters, with an actress supposedly playing Wretzky being strung out on drugs. Despite some reunions going on in the Pumpkins world with the return of James Iha and Jimmy Chamberlain, don't expect this feud to be solved any time soon.
