10 Band Members Who ABSOLUTELY HATE Each Other

6. Tom Petty/Stan Lynch - Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers

You don't really have to think about who's the leader of a band that's called Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. Even though there has always been a bit of an 'all-for-one' mentality behind the group, there's simply no getting around the fact that Petty himself remains the center of attention at every gig. That kind of stuff kind of goes without saying...it's a shame that no one told Stan Lynch that, though.

Ever since the core of the Heartbreakers was first brought together, Lynch always had an outspoken personality about everything, which would often cause dust-ups when it came time to record. Going into making Damn the Torpedoes was where it first got ugly, with Lynch getting fired for a few days due to creative differences with Petty and producer Jimmy Iovine.

As things eventually smoothed over during the mid '80s, things reached another breaking point at the start of the '90s when Petty released Full Moon Fever as a solo project. Equating the tour to being like he was in a cover band, Lynch was ready to break out of the confines of the Heartbreakers. Wanting to have his cake and eat it too, Lynch would often talk to others in the music industry about how Tom's solo outings were terrible and how he was looking for other acts, all while still being in the band. This eventually led to his dismissal shortly after the release of Wildflowers, bringing in Steve Ferrone in his place behind the skins. Stan Lynch might not have been that bad of a player, but his time in the Heartbreakers just came down to a hardcore friendship fallout.
