10 Bands That Became One Album Wonders

5. Boston

Most bands need to take a little while before really nailing down their sound. Considering most people are just finding their sea legs when getting their first fans, it's hard to really make any grand statement when you're just getting acquainted with fame. Or if you're a resident genius like Tom Scholz, just start off with perfection with Boston and hope for the best from there.

Made in Scholz's basement, most of Boston's debut is polished to a pure sheen across its runtime, with Scholz himself tackling most of the instruments except for Brad Delp's vocals. From the flow to the individual quality of every track, nearly every song on this record found its way onto the radio, from the power anthem More than a Feeling to the rock and roll of songs like Smokin and Peace of Mind. Everything might be perfect...but where do you go from there?

Considering the title of their next album was Don't Look Back, it felt like even Scholz knew he couldn't top his first outing, instead serving up a part 2 of what made him famous in the first place. Though this was exactly what the fans were asking for, things started to gradually plummet before Boston graduated to the summer shed circuit for classic rock bands. While most of Boston's later output still kicks a lot of ass, you can't really live up to it when your first album is already an A+.
