10 Bands That Deserve To Be More Than One Hit Wonders
5. The New Radicals
From a raw musical perspective, Generation X was not exactly known as the sunniest of times. Though the '80s started things off on a flamboyant note with new wave and hair metal, the age of Nirvana and Nine Inch Nails was more likely to drone on about how much pain you get from living every day. The youth just needed some fun, and the New Radicals managed to capture a ray of sunshine in You Get What You Give.
Standing at a colossal 5 minutes, this pop single was an experience unto itself whenever it came on the radio, having the same type of bombast and musical sophistication that you would find in an ELO song. There was even a somewhat positive message to it, where the singer talks about fighting against anyone who stands in your way. While this kind of song is all you need in a single, could we at least have gotten one more off of Maybe You've Been Brainwashed Too?
With only one album to their name, the New Radicals is more than worthy of another hit, as songs like Someday We'll Know and Mother We Just Can't Get Enough have stood the test of time alright. Even the non pop sects of popular music have managed to find some fun in these songs, creating fans out of everyone from Hall and Oates to Ice-T. When you have stuff like that that truly transcends genre boundaries, it deserves to be celebrated much more than just retro throwback nights.
