10 Bands That Deserve To Be More Than One Hit Wonders
4. Blind Melon
The '90s were as good a time as any if you were looking to bring a little bit of kookiness into your sound. Though the best bands at the time were coaxing off of odes to absolute depression, acts like the Presidents of the United States of America and Faith No More proved that you didn't really need to be sad to make it on the charts. While Blind Melon managed to throw their hat into the ring with No Rain, it's a crime that they ended up sinking like a stone.
Aside from the iconic video from around the same time, the allure of this band seemed to dry up once people stopped focusing on the bee girl at the center of the video. What they were missing out on may have been one of the best kept secrets in rock, as Blind Melon took the raw sounds of rock and roll and mixed them with funk and alternative sounding styles.
While it's certainly a stretch to compare them to someone like Faith No More, Shannon Hoon was every bit as charismatic as any alt rock frontman could hope to be, even giving people like Billy Corgan a run for their money in the process. Having just as many fans in people like Zakk Wylde as they do with the alternative crowd, Blind Melon probably deserve a spot next to the likes of Jane's Addiction as the alt rock adjacent trailblazers.
