10 Bands That Deserve To Be More Than One Hit Wonders
2. Body Count
Sometimes a one hit wonder doesn't really reach the top of the charts in the traditional sense. Though there are plenty of acts who just manage to notch up one good song and then fade into obscurity, there are always those occasional acts where it's a miracle that they even got the one hit in the first place. In a world that was all about the alternative boom, Body Count almost became one controversy wonders with the release of Cop Killer.
Released around the same time the Rodney King trials were happening, Ice-T's first step up to the plate with his metal outfit had some serious chops behind it, with guitarist Ernie C having a firm command of metallic thunder behind him. Then again, when you have a song that is all about anarchy to start out with, it's hard to really build up a career as a hit-making band after that.
Though Body Count never saw the real charts too much, Ice-T is still a powerhouse behind the mic whenever out in full force, capturing a mood of pure evil in his lyrics that not too many other metal frontmen can really do anymore. Ernie is certainly no slouch either, using the time in between the hit to dial in even fiercer tones across each album. While Ice-T's star power tends to remain exclusively to the Law and Order crowd these days, he has more than earned his stripes as one of the most interesting frontmen to come out of the metal genre.
