10 Bands That Ended Their Careers On A High Note

8. Speakerboxxx/The Love Below - OutKast

Not every breakup has to have loads of drama surrounding it. Most of the time these artists tend to drift apart over time, trying to reach for different sounds and making the kind of music that suits them rather than their main musical outlet. And since Andre and Big Boi were really starting to drift apart, there was only one way to solve this problem: just release two albums.

For all of the jokes that this double album gets, Speakerboxxx/The Love Below really are just the first two solo records from Big Boi and Andre packaged together, which makes for one hell of an experience when you take it all in. Though both of them show up on each other's albums to some extent, each of these records have a completely different musical goal going for it. For most of Speakerboxxx, Big Boi is his usual self, making the kind of amazing turns of phrase that made earlier Outkast projects so good, especially when delving into pop rap on songs like The Way You Move and Church.

The Love Below is where things really start getting interesting though, with Andre trying his hand at every genre he can think of, going from funk to soul to all time classics on tracks like Hey Ya. This was just really masking what was going on behind the scenes though, as both Andre and Big Boi struggled to get back on the same page and cutting off working together down the line. Aside from the soundtrack to their passion project Idlewild, this is one of the last times that 3 Stacks and Sir Lucious Left Foot actually made magic together.
