10 Bands That Ended Their Careers On A High Note

6. We Got it From Here...Thanks For Your Service - Tribe Called Quest

After the last artistic gasp of the Love Movement, it looked like A Tribe Called Quest had said all they wanted to say. They had always been the mellow counterpart to the gangsta rap movement of the '90s, and it looked like they had at least found some sort of peace from what that title would imply. After coming together to celebrate their legacy in the 2010's though, things felt a little bit different.

Looking to make one last hoorah as a band, We Got It From Here is Tribe getting the old gang back together for one colossal party, with a strong emphasis on rock this time around. This isn't like Tribe suddenly turning punk or anything though, instead going for a rock focused production by using consoles once used by the likes of Iggy Pop and even bringing in Jack White to help out with interlude tracks.

Things had changed since the late '90s though, and Tribe assembled some new friends along the way, from Andre 3000 and Kanye West dropping some verses to Anderson Paak laying down a groove behind the drumkit on his tracks. While this was a joyous time for everyone, Phife Dawg wouldn't live to see it come out, passing away before the album was done due to complications from diabetes. What we're left with is an album that stands as a testament to what Tribe stood for. They did their thing and laid low, and it made for one of the greatest sendoffs a rap collective could have asked for.
