10 Bands That Made The Same Album Over Again

6. Linkin Park

Whenever trying to redo the same album over again, you have to have a lot of faith in your formula. After all, if this doesn't work, you're going to look like both a one trick pony and become virtually irrelevant once the trends change. Though Meteora by Linkin Park is basically part 2 of Hybrid Theory, this is the textbook definition of how to avoid the sophomore slump.

Taking all of their road work into the studio, Meteora was Linkin Park doubling down on everything that made Hybrid Theory good, only with the whiny gimmicks thrown out for good measure. Though the songs on here still tackle serious subjects like loneliness and suicide, the preteen whining of something like Crawling is virtually gone, instead replaced with a sullen loneliness of something like Easier to Run and Somewhere I Belong.

This album also gave the band a great excuse to show their teeth a little bit more, with songs like Faint and Don't Stay being some of the greatest ragers that we've had since Chester nearly popped a blood vessel on the scream of A Place For My Head. Aside from the genre connotations, this was not the same band who carried the torch for nu metal. These were now rock stars of the future looking to push against the norm and create something all their own.
