10 Bands That Made The Same Album Over Again
5. Manowar
For any average metal band, just redoing the same album over again seems silly. Unless you're name is Slayer and you're specifically known for your consistent heaviness, why the hell would you want to release the same batch of riffs again and again in the hopes that someone spots you? Well, if you're Manowar, it's sometimes good to recontextualize the old metal manual every now and again.
Compared to what we've seen on the list thus far, Battle Hymns MMXI is the definition of a redo album, considering that we've all heard these songs before. With modern sounding production and a closer attention to detail, this is a blatant do-over of the group's first album, only putting a little bit of new arrangements in every now and again. Though this could be seen as a cheap thing looking to milk more cash out of the fans' pockets, the dynamic of the band at the time puts it in a better context.
Seeing how Donnie Hamzik had previously left Manowar at the time, this was his first go around behind the kit since his departure. If anything, this was him getting his main gig back by playing the same songs that got him in the band back in the day. Though the original Battle Hymns hasn't gone anywhere, this feels more like a mission statement to see the new and improved Manowar completely reborn and ready to kill.
