10 Bands That Only Ever Released One Good Album

8. Walking On A Dream - Empire Of The Sun (2008)

The late 2000s was a time when indie rock began to make way for a more electronic and psychedelic laced sound. The two big hitters were MGMT and Empire Of The Sun. The summer months of the late 2000s were defined by these two groups; their music was all over the place, and there wasn't a UK festival that didn't contain at least one of them on the line up.

When twangy guitars and lyrics about getting wasted in the park become tired, you would turn to one of these acts. They do say good things come in pairs, and the two Aussie musicians, dressed like Marvel characters, were the perfect counter act, to the two New Yorkers who made up MGMT. Their debut album embraced a kind of space age mysticism and was laced with hints of Bowie and Prince.

The duo managed to ride the trip pop wave for two more albums after this. But, the magic had run its cause. Their subsequent records just felt like tired attempts to recycle old ideas by disguising them in ever more elaborate costumes.
