I thinks it's finally time for these guys to put Lulu *shudders* in the past and release a proper follow up to 2008's Death Magnetic. That album won over many fans who were disenchanted with the band's late 90's/early 2000's studio output by returning to the band's thrash metal roots, and ditching that godawful snare drum from 2003's St. Anger. Lulu, the band's notoriously bad collaboration record with the late Lou Reed of the legendary art-punk Velvet Underground, shook up the band's already shaky fanbase once again, and some doubted if the band could ever make another comeback. They were then blasted even further for performing on the Grammys, a far cry from the band's "F**k the establishment" attitude of their thrash metal days. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AiOtev3rEKI Will the upcoming album continue to push away seasoned fans, or will Metallica completely change course once again? The band recently released a brand new garage demo of the track "Lords of Summer", but as of right now no one is quite sure if the song will appear on the completed album. However, it does indeed sound like a natural continuation of Death Magnetic. Regardless, it will be interesting to see how this album fares.
