Bob Dylan doesn't really need to prove his musical chops to anyone at this point. After becoming one of the pioneers of folk rock back in the early '60s, his transition into the rock world made for some of the most poignant lyrical forays ever to come out of a pop tune. Then again, it's not like the musical side of things was ever that complicated to begin with.

In Dylan's prime, you could pretty much pick every single trait his tunes had without thinking too hard.
