10 Bands Whose Songs Sound Exactly The Same

8. Motorhead

Just a few years shy of the Ramones' debut, something even more venomous was happening overseas. After years of serving as a roadie for Jimi Hendrix and one of the leaders of the psychedelic band Hawkwind, Lemmy Kilmister finally found his calling as the lean, mean badass at the front of Motorhead. Even if the band never had too many new tricks, what they brought to rock and roll lit a fire in the stomach of any rocker born to break the rules.

Whenever you throw on a Motorhead release, the foundation is always pretty basic rock and roll. Sure, there's a bunch of distortion and gravel in the production of everything, but most of the melodies are ripped out of the glory days of rock and roll like Chuck Berry and Little Richard. It could have easily come off as passe, but Lemmy dialed the amps up to 11 and let his animalistic side loose whenever he stepped up to the mic.

The sound might have still been rock, but the verbal thrashing and intense tempos marked the beginnings of what would become heavy metal. Though Black Sabbath or Led Zeppelin get credit as the originators of metal, everyone from Guns N Roses to Metallica to Nirvana wouldn't have had a prayer if not for Motorhead's sound. It's not too complicated, but that's the point.
