10 Bands You Need To See At Download Festival 2017

3. Baroness

Beautiful and heavy in equal measure, American sludge rockers Baroness will be gracing the Zippo Encore Stage on day one of Download 2017, providing a colourful barrage of pure rock hot off the momentum of their best album to date, 2015's Purple.

For fans of the likes of Mastodon and Kylesa, Baroness will truly be a must-see event, especially since it has been almost eighteen months since the UK last saw them grace our stages. Their 2016 headlining tour saw them play Purple from front-to-back and, while that probably will not be the case next Friday, the band will doubtlessly bring out many a smash hit from that record, including the slow-building "If I Have to Wake Up (Would You Stop the Rain?)", the hard-hitting "Morningstar" and, of course, the Grammy-nominated "Shock Me".

Add into the mix beloved old-school, heavy cuts like "Isak" and "A Horse Called Golgotha" and Baroness's Download set could definitely be among the best to grace the Zippo Stage over the course of the entire weekend.
