10 Bands You Need To See At Download Festival 2017
2. Anathema
Probably the least heavy band on this list, the progressive Anathema will doubtlessly be an experimental, melodic and enchanting experience to brilliantly offset the heavy rock that will make up the vast majority of the Zippo Encore Stage on Download's Sunday.
Sandwiched in between industrial veterans Ministry and melodic death metal headbangers DevilDriver, Anathema will doubtlessly be a bizarre interlude, but one that will definitely provide an experience more relaxing and thought-provoking than most of their fellow acts during the weekend.
Not only is this transcendent juggernaut of a group hot off supporting progressive icons like Opeth as they head into Download (as well as a small, headlining "An Evening With..." trek), their set will be only two days removed from the Friday, 9th June release of their upcoming eleventh record, The Optimist (2017).
An old-school prog rock album that feels at times reminiscent of classic bands like the Beatles, tracks from this beautiful album such as the rocking "Leaving It Behind" and the gorgeous "Springfield" will doubtlessly translate perfectly to a live environment.
