10 Best American Classic Rock Bands Of All Time

7. Bruce Springsteen And The E Street Band

When Bruce Springsteen was first breaking on the scene with his E Street Band, the man was almost pigeonholed by the rock journalists of the day. While his first records were impenetrable, most critics seemed to sidestep him as another offshoot of Bob Dylan's folk rock sound. Oh how wrong they were...

After the success of Born To Run, Springsteen showed every single rock fan just why they fell in love with this music in the first place. The entire E Street sound seems to have an element of grandeur to it, almost like Springsteen is the conductor of the classic rock orchestra. The Dylan comparison is also warranted given Springsteen's lyrics, which have tales of average American kids trying to make sense of their lives.

No rock fan is the same, but the way that Springsteen writes makes you feel like you're part of some big family of rock and roll that extends farther than your headphones. Once you let go and decide to get rocked by Springsteen's music, it's almost as if you've found a tribe of fellow misfits, eager to break free from the normal life you live everyday. Even after 40 years, the Boss is still carrying the torch for everything pure and mighty about this style of music.
