10 Best Avenged Sevenfold Songs

1. A Little Piece Of Heaven – Avenged Sevenfold (2007)

The penultimate track on Avenged Sevenfold’s self-titled album is the Rev’s masterpiece. With its unconventional instrumental and its twisted subject matter, ‘A Little Piece of Heaven’ is impossible to ignore.

The atmosphere of this song is unlike any of the band’s other material. Indeed, the instrumental feels like it could have been on the soundtrack of The Nightmare Before Christmas or American McGee's Alice.

Though Avenged Sevenfold are no stranger to classical composition, they were much more ambitious when making ‘A Little Piece of Heaven’. In addition to the strings, the track features a choir, French horns, and a woodwind section.

‘A Little Piece of Heaven’ also contains several offbeat sound effects and vocal lines that give the song its narrative quality. This is particularly noticeable during the bridge of the song when Zacky Vengeance takes on the role of a creepy priest at a marriage ceremony.

Whilst some may be disappointed with the marginalisation of the guitars, ‘A Little Piece of Heaven’ is undoubtedly the most memorable song from the band owing to its unique atmosphere and its flawless execution.
