10 Best Avenged Sevenfold Songs
7. Roman Sky – The Stage (2016)
The Stage was a risk for Avenged Sevenfold. As well as releasing it without any warning, the album was much more experimental than the bulk of their previous material.
However, they clearly knew what they were doing, for ‘Roman Sky’ is a prime example of why it’s good for artists to experiment.
The acoustic guitar riff and the orchestral violins create a sound unlike anything the band have ever put out before. Indeed, based on the quality of this song, Avenged Sevenfold should seriously consider doing a full orchestral album.
Though Shadows is used sparingly on ‘Roman Sky’, his voice weaves seamlessly through the classical instrumentation. His vocals during the climax of the track are particularly good, for they manage to stand out without diluting the terrific instrumental.
‘Roman Sky’ may seem a little mundane if you enjoy the band’s heavier side, but for those who appreciate some well-executed experimentation, this song is an essential listen.
