10 Best Bring Me The Horizon Songs
6. Chelsea Smile – Suicide Season (2008)
Suicide Season was a vast improvement over the band’s debut. With a slicker production and a more mature sound, Bring Me The Horizon’s second LP still holds up over a decade since its release.
In line with the rest of the album, ‘Chelsea Smile’ is driven by a metalcore sound brimming with heavy guitars, thundering drums, and Sykes' angst-ridden screams and growls.
What makes the track stand out, however, is its spiritual underpinnings. The middle section of ‘Chelsea Smile’ contains some of Sykes’ most memorable lyrics, and given he was only twenty-one-years-old when the album was released, this is a most impressive feat.
As for the instrumental, this track is a forerunner for much of the band’s later work. In addition to the prominent string section in the latter part of the song, there’s also a sprinkling of electronics thrown in as well.
‘Chelsea Smile’ is a clear highlight on Suicide Season. It’s brutal, catchy, and has plenty of thematic substance.
