10 Best Bring Me The Horizon Songs

2. Blessed With A Curse – There Is A Hell… (2010)

‘Blessed With A Curse’ is another gem from the band’s third album. With its slower tempo and chilling atmosphere, it’s one of the few power ballads from Bring Me The Horizon.

The introduction is enough on its own to send shivers down the spine. The clean guitar tone and the minimalist electronics create an eerie quality that immerses the listener at once.

After this introduction, the bulk of the track follows a linear structure with a loud-quiet dynamic that sees Sykes delve into his vices and the impact they have on his relationships. With the rugged power chords to accompany his voice, such a theme has plenty of punch, particularly during the chorus.

The closing section then changes the dynamic of the song. After a terrific solo from Malia, the track transitions back into the stripped-back tone of the introduction and ends with some wicked drum patterns from Nicholls.

‘Blessed With A Curse’ is one of the best moments on a truly exceptional album. It’s hard-hitting, raw, and deeply immersive.
