10 Best Daft Punk Songs Ever
1. Instant Crush - Random Access Memories
Looking back on it, Random Access Memories is a pretty amazing way to cap off a career for Daft Punk. Though they would go on to work with other artists before eventually deciding to call it a day, this record is perfect combination of everything you could want in a dance record, from the infectious grooves to making a complete interview with Giorgio Moroder work well in the middle of the record. At a point where Daft Punk didn't really need anything else though, they gave us something we didn't know we wanted on Instant Crush.
Whereas songs like Aerodynamic may have dabbled in some of the more rock leaning sides of the group, this collaboration with Julian Casablancas of the Strokes is one of the greatest things that either act has been a part of. As the initial airy synths start us off, the almost vocoded lines from Julian paint a beautiful picture of what it's like to be smitten for the first time, doing what Something About Us had only hinted at.
By the time the funky bassline comes in and the chorus hits though, every single element is at full capacity, as it makes you want to move all while refusing to let go of your heartstrings. For as many great moments that Daft Punk have captured both in the studio and live, this is the most purely concentrated form of musical bliss they have ever touched.
