10 Best Daft Punk Songs Ever

9. Revolution 909 - Homework

Not every debut album is meant to be one of the greatest records of all time. Since most musicians haven't been in a studio environment until this point, most of these records tend to be a bit rough around the edges, as if they're discovering their new recording techniques in real time. While Homework is no exception to this rule in places, Revolution 909 is the unofficial litmus test for what Daft Punk would become.

Blending in with the rest of Homework's house beats, the insistent pulse of the music is what really gets you moving from the opening, as if you're being catapulted into a massive wall of sound. Compared to some of the more by the numbers house tracks that show up on the rest of the record, the repetition going on in this song was the first time Daft Punk had really hit upon a groove, as each go-around seeps into your brain and refuses to let go.

Given that albums like Discovery are a bit more celebrated, Revolution 909 still has a strong following among the production community, with the same techniques finding its way into records from the likes of Danger Mouse. For as much fun as it may have been at the time, little did we know that this was just the beginning of the musical revolution.
