10 Best Dave Grohl Songs (Not By Nirvana Or Foo Fighters)

8. Tenacious D - "Tribute"

Call the duo of Jack Black and Kyle Gass a joke band all you like, there's no denying the heaps and heaps of musical talent these two possess. In fact, when they started Tenacious D, they intended to proceed as serious musicians. When they realized their mutual penchant for goofy lyrics and all-around silliness was starting to seep into everything they wrote, they just went with it.

Dave Grohl, meanwhile, is obviously an established "serious musician," with mountains of credibility backing him up. But if you've ever seen the videos for "Big Me" or "Learn to Fly," you know that Dave also has a knack for silliness. Putting him alongside the D, in retrospect, seems obvious.

Grohl has lent his drum expertise to every Tenacious D song requiring a beat, but the most amazing use of the Foo frontman is not-so-coincidentally D's breakout song, "Tribute," in which he not only busts out some sweet drum fills, but also dons some horns and hooves to play Satan in the music video.
