10 Best Dave Grohl Songs (Not By Nirvana Or Foo Fighters)
5. Probot - "Shake Your Blood"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T09hBGGpSjkProbot was the first of many high-profile supergroups Dave would construct during his time away from the Foo Fighters. Born from his passion for heavy metal (not to mention the pressure he felt to "stay inside the lines" as an alternative rock frontrunner), Grohl enlisted a cast of the metal singers he idolized to create a massive album that was much heavier than anything he'd shown the world to that point.
Described as a "death metal Supernatural" (referring to the Santana project chalked full of pop singer guest appearances), Probot only lasted for one album, but if the goal was to expand Grohl's legend by proving he could credibly venture outside mainstream rock, it more than exceeded. Anyone who ever questions his proficiency as a guitarist need only listen to the blistering riffage laid down on this album, all of which was recorded by Grohl.
The greatest coup of all was snagging Lemmy Kilmister of Motorhead to sing the lead single, "Shake Your Blood." A sexy thrasher about the rock n roll lifestyle, it's technically the most mainstream song off the album, but still has so much bite that it's hard to believe it became as popular as it did.
